Personal Specialist Health Care

Specialist Care

No two individuals are the same. Each of our complex care packages is designed around the needs of that client, making each package of care unique and person centred. Our aim is to encourage and empower clients, and their families, to live as independently as possible.

Complex care needs we support

Clinical specialisms

We specialise in the provision of care packages for clients with complex care needs including:

  • Ventilator dependency
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Tracheostomy support
  • Neuromuscular conditions
  • Brain injuries

What every package provides

Flexible by design

  • The opportunity to meet and get to know the support workers who will form your team before care begins
  • A package built around your family, routine and lifestyle
  • Rehabilitation support, whether that’s returning to work, education or training, or simply getting away on holiday
  • Ongoing post-injury management and support
  • Typically 10-24-hour care, up to full 24/7 live-out care, depending on assessed need and package requirements

As part of our tailored service, we can also advise on Personal Health Budgets and work alongside personal injury solicitors, case managers and insurers on litigation-funded care and claims. PCS is proud to be a Trusted Partner of the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA).

For health authorities, hospitals, ICBs and case managers

Care Commissioners

Whether you’re a local authority, hospital, legal adviser, case manager or Integrated Care Board (ICB), PCS is here to help you deliver the right outcome for your client.

Our client-centred recruitment, in-house training and experienced care management underpin every package for adults, children and young people. We provide coordinated case management and full care management, delivered by teams who understand how to establish complex care safely in the community.

Each support worker is trained for a specific client, with dedicated rotas providing continuity and consistency. This helps teams deliver complex tasks such as suctioning or ventilator care, reducing delays and avoidable stress for the client.

Specialist paediatric complex care

Children’s Services

Children’s care

PCS’s children and young people’s service is led by our paediatric clinician, Claire Stickley, supported by a dedicated team of Registered Sick Children’s Nurses (RSCNs) and care management colleagues specialising in children’s services. Claire has 20+ years’ experience – most spent in NHS high-dependency wards as a deputy sister looking after very sick and complex children, with the last five years in community care.

With our in-house paediatric expertise, we help children and young people stay at home and take part in school, nursery and after-school activities alongside their peers.

Conditions and clinical needs we support:

  • Respiratory and ventilation support, including invasive and non-invasive ventilation and suctioning (nasopharyngeal and oral)
  • Spinal muscular atrophy with respiratory distress (SMARD)
  • Sleep apnoea
  • Tracheostomy care
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Traumatic and acquired brain injury
  • Neurological and neuromuscular conditions, including muscular dystrophy, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, hydrocephalus, spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), epilepsy and seizure disorders
  • Genetic disorders, including CHARGE syndrome, cleft lip/palate and Angelman syndrome

We work closely with each child or young person and their family, giving them confidence in the care provided. Every package is personalised, with staff trained to the child’s specific needs by our paediatric clinician and wider clinical team.
